atomista

2017, 7' x 7' x 11 1/2', Plastic debris, paint, hardware,

Part of the Collection of the NYC Department of Education, Public Art for Public Schools, Atomista was commissioned for permanent display in a new lobby space at P.S. 50 Talfourd Lawn Elementary School in Jamaica, Queens, NY.  Made from welded industrial plastic debris (UV stabilized HDPE) and other smaller plastic debris materials, Atomista is intended to express freedom from the laws of physics as offered through art and education. In infinite space there is no above or below, just as in creative inquiry, which offers a form of freedom particularly relevant to young people finding their way.
