Troika

2017, 10 x 9 × 9 ft | 3.05 x 2.83 x 2.83 m, Injection-welded post-industrial plastic (HDPE) hardware, LEDs, solar panels

This installation of 3 individual sculptures is made from industrial plastic debris (high-density polyethylene barrels previously used for syrups, oils, and detergents) from the transfer station at Penn State University. Troika was originally commissioned for exhibition at the Arboretum at Penn State University with support from a National Endowment for the Arts grant, The Palmer Museum, Diane Blanton, the Central Pennsylvania Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Centre County Commissioners, Penn State's Sustainability Institute, Materials Research Institute, and Solid Waste Operations. Troika illustrates the long-term exterior durability of injection-welded industrial plastic. Since its creation, Troika has been installed in a variety of locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, South Carolina, and New York.
