Lover’s Spat
2025, 12’ x 12’ x 16’ | 3.66 × 3.66 × 4.87 m, 3D-printed post-industrial medical grade plastic and hardware.
This permanent site-specific installation is comprised of 24 individual sculptures created by using an Artek Space Spider high-resolution 3D scanner to capture the geometry of Virginica Crassostrea oysters. It could not have been made without a tremendous amount of help from my artist collaborator husband Marshall Coles, and art studio assistants Robie Driscoll and Connor Joseph Labar. Gratitude to Kevin Graham & Coles Driscoll for expert installation support. Lover’s Spat was commissioned by St. Mary’s College of Maryland and is part of their permanent collection. Special thanks to Aliza Schiff, Laurie Roberts-Conklin, Ryan Patterson, Sue Johnson and Maury Schlessinger for their support throughout.
