Lift

2009, 40’ x 18’ x 16’, Main, largest orb is approx 13' around, ~10,000 post-consumer plastic bottles (PET) and ~3000 bottle caps (PP and HDPE), steel armature, tinted polycrylic, aluminum rivets and washers, solar-powered LEDs + rotator motors.

Commissioned by Rice University, Houston, TX. On permanent view at the Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center at Rice University. All the components of Lift rotate very slowly. There are 7 individual components. The photographs provided focus on the main component, which is the largest. All the components illuminate from dusk til dawn using solar power.
