Chorion
2023, approx 20 x 20 x 50ft | 6.09 x 6.09 x 15.24m, blown glass & hardware
Commissioned for the Scotia Bank Lobby at The Vancouver Centre II, British Columbia, Canada. Chorion is made from hand blown glass and hardware. I was commissioned to make this piece to complement Douglas Coupland’s sculpture of a salmon in the adjoining lobby. I worked with Cameron Dougherty at Dougherty Glass, a Vancouver-based glass-blowing studio to create the 150 glass spheres that make up Chorion, inspired by floating salmon eggs. Special thanks to my art + design partner Marshall Coles, Karen Mills at Public Art Management, Eric Cross and Elia Kirby at GNW Scene Shop for their support in creating this piece.
